Dyno Burnished v RaceReady
Carbon Metallic® RaceReady™ has won more races than any other
In some racing venues, it has become commonplace to pre-burnish brake discs and pads on brake dynamometers to transfer pad material to the disc and to "gas off" contaminants absorbed by the disc during the machining processes. Although Performance Friction does provide this service, we do not recommend its necessity with our products. No coolants or lubricants are used in the machining of our disc rotors.
When using Performance Friction discs with Performance Friction pads we found that dynamometer pre-burnishing is unnecessary, expensive and can be detrimental to the performance of the brake package. Resulting from extensive studies of various combinations of pads and discs (green and pre-burnished) we have measured that the highest performance and most consistent braking is achieved using Performance Friction compounds that have undergone our "RaceReady™" factory processing. Essentially, the brake pads are processed whereby the "green effectiveness" is minimized and very little "bedding" or "burnishing" is required. All Performance Friction street and motorsport/powersport compounds are produced RaceReady™. Compare the results on the graph below.
The best way to ensure consistent performance from your brake system is to use the discs and pads as they are manufactured by Performance Friction, and bed them on the race track.
For full instructions on bedding, see our recommended Pad and Disc Bedding procedures.
