Calipers

The System …

The caliper, disc and pads work as a system: dynamically effecting bite, torque, release, and in the end, lap times. Performance Friction’s improvement in pad and disc technology transferred to improvements in caliper design, resulting in exceptional speed and reliability. Professional race teams have seen tremendous success running the Performance Friction package of pads, discs and calipers in ALMS, ELMS, Grand-Am DP/GT, NASCAR Nextel Cup/Busch/Truck, Speed World Challenge, Formula 3 and JGTC.  It’s Quicker

Choose from:

Monobloc
By definition, monobloc refers to a casting or forging or machining which is made in a single piece rather than being fabricated.  Performance Friction monobloc FEA Design calipers are made from high temperature aluminium alloy to reduce caliper deflection for less pedal travel and improved response even at the highest temperatures.

Billet Two-Piece
This refers to a caliper that has been machined in two halves from billet aluminium and then bolted together with high grade steel bolts.

Number of Pistons - Number of Pads

Performance Friction's range of calipers are available in a number of piston to pad combinations.

Caliper deflection has long been the challenge for manufacturers of brake calipers.  Some of the force generated by the pedal and master cylinder is used up in movement in the caliper.  This can cause increased pedal travel and tapered pad wear.  Through Performance Friction's dedication to research and development, we have discovered and we believe that a well designed four piston caliper with always flex less for a given piston area than a six piston caliper.  For this reason, our range of calipers features predominately monobloc 4 piston.
